Commemorating the 128th Anniversary of Kurdish Journalism Day, this high-level scientific conference, originally scheduled for JulApril 21-22, has been rescheduled to July 6–7, 2026. This event providing a global stage to address the evolving geopolitical challenges of the Middle East and the structural barriers to media independence. Under the timely theme, “Media Reform in Post-Conflict Areas: Kurdistan’s Strategic Policy Roadmap,” the forum invites world-class scholars, policy experts, and international stakeholders to collaborate on a resilient framework for democratic growth. This round of the forum is dedicated to finalizing a “Strategic Policy Roadmap” designed to: Safeguard journalistic ethics and elevate professional standards; Protect media integrity against political and commercial interference; Integrate the Kurdish media reform model into global dialogues on democratic resilience and de-colonial governance. This summit represents a collective commitment by local and international bodies to elevate the standards of Kurdish media through professional and scientific rigor, establishing an independent media landscape as a fundamental pillar of democracy.

Middlesex University: It is a globally recognized institution with leading research programs in media, communications, and conflict studies. It provides the academic venue and scholarly expertise essential for evidence-based policy development. Ranked 1st in London and 2nd in the UK for University of the Year (Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2025), Middlesex University combines a strong North London presence with an international outlook through campuses in Dubai and Mauritius and partnerships with institutions worldwide.
The Media Reform Coalition’s (MRC) story starts back in 2011. This was when the Leveson Inquiry into the culture and ethics of the British newspaper industry was launched, following revelations that the News of the World had hacked the phones of victims of crime. A group of academics who were working on the Spaces of the News research project set up the Coordinating Committee for Media Reform, later renamed the Media Reform Coalition (MRC). This brought together academics with over 30 pressure groups to engage with the Inquiry and other areas of media policy.
Kanga Educational Foundation (KEF): It is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit institution committed to the preservation and promotion of Kurdish language, culture, and identity among Kurdish children and youth in the diaspora. KEF’s mission is to enhance cultural awareness and educational participation through the development of Kurdish language programs, the organization of cultural initiatives, and the facilitation of collaboration among Kurdish communities across the world. The organization aspires to cultivate an informed, culturally grounded generation capable of contributing to the safeguarding and advancement of Kurdish heritage on a global scale. Furthermore, Kanga Educational Foundation, as an internationally recognized organization registered in the United Kingdom, has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kurdish Media Watchdog Organization (CHMK) to promote and develop media literacy education among Kurdish communities abroad.
